On December 1st, Walgreens welcomed the public to the official opening of its 8,000th store, which also happened to be its flagship location on the West Coast. The store features a modern, revolutionary style, one that, in conjunction with its iconic location on the corner of Sunset and Vine, creates a truly unique experience and look. It will serve as an all encompassing health and daily living destination, featuring a multitude of new services and features.
“We are thrilled to locate our milestone 8,000th store and latest flagship store at such a famous intersection as we bring a format unlike any traditional drugstore to the Hollywood community,” said Joe Magnacca, Walgreens president of daily living products and solutions. “Walgreens aims to be America’s first choice for health and daily living, and we look forward to providing an exceptional experience for our customers as we help them get, stay and live well.”
At the forefront is the LOOK Boutique, the beauty department which features dozens of various prestige and niche cosmetic, skincare and hair care brands. The Boutique also features an innovative perfume and cologne application bar, which allows shoppers to sample the most popular fragrances. It will also have on-site advisors composed of specially trained beauty consultants, experts and grooming professionals.
One of Britain’s leading skincare brands, No7, created by Boots, will also be available in the Walgreens LOOK Boutique. The No7 brand is internationally renowned for its range of anti-aging beauty serums. Boots was recently acquired in part by Walgreens, which now owns 45% of the company.
Among the other brands that can be found at the LOOK Boutique are GOSH, one of the leading beauty brands from Denmark, and an exclusive cosmetic line by Fergie, the lead singer from the Black Eyed Peas.
Further into the store is the state-of-the-art Pharmacy that is equipped with a consultation room, virtual pharmacist and Health Corner – all designed to encourage greater interaction between pharmacists and patients. The Pharmacy is supervised by lead pharmacist Shawat Batmanian. The Health Corner will serve as an outreach venue where the local community can gain access to health screenings, immunizations, seminars and support for various health disorders. This particular location also serves as an HIV Center for Excellence, which offers free HIV testing, side effect profiles and medication compliance.
This flagship store, which is the 6th in the U.S., features a complete grocery area, which is supplemented by a variety of dining and luxury beverage options. The Deli area is staffed with a team of professional sushi chefs, who will craft fresh hand rolled sushi and sashimi every day, along with sandwiches, salads and fresh fruits and vegetables.
Adjacent to the Deli is the UP Market Café, which serves warm food, fresh brewed premium coffee, espressos, as well as iced and frozen options. Within a few feet are a juice and smoothie bar and a frozen yoghurt station with a toppings bar.
If it is spirits and wine you are looking for, this revolutionary establishment features a best-in-class wine selection boasting more than 700 fine wines that will pair well with the store’s assortment of artisan and brie cheeses as well as specialty meats, decadent chocolates and more. If you need assistance in creating your favorite mixed drink, check-out the virtual bartender.
In cohesion with Walgreens’ American tradition, a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine dispensing 130 varieties of Coca Cola fountain drinks is present at the store.
