UNA to resume campaigning, launch Erap bid to be Manila mayor on Easter

MANILA, Mar 28 (Mabuhay) — After a lull in sorties this Holy Week, the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) will resume campaigning on Easter Sunday, March 31, to officially launch the candidacy of one of its stalwarts, former President Joseph Estrada who is running as mayor of Manila.

Estrada will be joined by UNA’s senatorial candidates in his proclamation rally at the Liwasang Bonifacio at 4 p.m. in a gatheirng dubbed by supporters as “Easterada.”

Estrada will go up against incumbent mayor Alfredo Lim, who is being backed by the administration’s Liberal Party. Incumbent Manila vice mayor Francisco Dumagoso (Isko Moreno) will be his runningmate.

Zambales Representative Mitos Magsaysay, one one UNA’s senatorial candidates, said they would show up at Estrada’s rally to express their support for one of the coalition’s leaders. Estrada is esteemed head of UNA, together with Vice Mayor Jejomar Binay, and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.

On April 1, Monday, UNA will barnstorm San Pablo City in Laguna. On April 2, Tuesday, senatorial candidates will campaign in San Juan City for the proclamation rally of reelectionist mayor Guia Gomez and UNA local candidates.

On April 3, Wednesday, it will have a motorcade in Manila’s 4th district, to be followed by a rally in Makati City, where incumbent mayor Jun-Jun Binay is seeking reelection.

Come April 4, Thursday, UNA candidates will hold a rally in Tarlac City, and on April 5, Friday, it will hold a motorcade in Lucena City. Candidates will return to Metro Manila on April 6, Saturday for a motorcade in Paranaque City and Las Piñas City. (MNS)
