Showbiz Update: John Lloyd on Shaina – ‘We’ve never been happier’

Contrart to rumors, John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao are still very much together.
This is what Cruz, one of the lead stars in ABS-CBN primetime show “Imortal”, said as he reacted to rumors that he and Magdayao have already called it quits.

“Lagi naman kaming binabato ng kung ano-anong issue. Siguro ganoon talaga kapag nakikita na maganda ‘yung nadudulot sa isa’t isa, masaya kayo at nananahimik kami,” he said. Cruz continued, “Huwag kayong mag-isip or mag-alala, sobrang okay kami.”

Rumors of Cruz and Magdayao’s so-called falling-out surfaced following reports that the former continues to contact his ex-girlfriend, Ruffa Gutierrez, via mobile phone. Late last month, a visibly irritated Gutierrez lashed out at Cruz for his “inconsistencies” and “indecisions.”

Shaina’s birthday

Magdayao was not able to celebrate her birthday with Cruz last November 6.
The actor, however, said he made it a point to contact his girlfriend via phone and give her special gifts.

“Sa mismong araw ng birthday niya, tinawagan ko lang siya. I (also) bought a few things. I shop for my girlfriend kasi it brings me closer to her,” Cruz shared.

Currently, Cruz and Magdayao are both busy with their respective projects in ABS-CBN – the former has Imortal while the latter stars in Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Alyna, an afternoon television series.

Despite their busy schedules, Cruz said he and Magdayao still manage to spend some quality time with each other.

“We make it a point na magkaroon kami ng quality time. To tell you honestly, we’ve never been happier. Super blessed kami. Mahirap makahanap ng ganoon na loaded ang schedule,” the actor said.

On directors

Cruz, meanwhile, stressed that he is very much open to working on different projects with other directors and artists. He made the statement as he reacted to rumors that he only wants to have Cathy Garcia-Molina as his movie director.

The box office king admitted, however, that he feels comfortable working with Garcia-Molina, who directed his films “Close To You”, “One More Chance”, “A Very Special Love”, “You Changed My Life” and “Miss You Like Crazy”.

“Malaki ang papel ni Direk Cathy sa naging film career ko. Malaking bagay ‘pag siya ang ka-trabaho ko kasi mas naiingatan ‘yung mas gusto mong i-offer,” Cruz said. He added, “Sobrang magtinginan lang kami alam na namin ‘yung gusto naming sabihin.”

Kim to spend Christmas solo

YOUNG actress Kim Chiu shared plans to celebrate Christmas alone following a reported breakup with reel and real sweetheart, Gerald Anderson.

“Ispe-spend ko siya alone. Ako lang mag-isa. Magta-travel ako,” she said.

Chui, who was her in usual bubbly mood during the Christmas Tree Lighting event at the Araneta Center on Friday, also shrugged off rumors that she is suffering from depression due to the alleged breakup.

“Eto ba ang depressed?” the actress said, all smiles.

Trying to deflect insinuations that her Christmas will be a cold, or loveless, one, she said that she would like to spend Christmas in a country where there is snow.”Gusto ko ng snow kasi eh. Para maiba naman siyempre,” she said.

Meanwhile, Chiu also clarified speculations over the rumor that Hollywood superstar Jackie Chan offered her a movie project.

“Medyo nagkagulo po sila eh, sayang. Oo naman po [gusto ko] siyempre Jackie Chan po ‘yon. Why not,” Chiu said.

According to public relations head of Star Magic Thess Gubi, Chan himself chose the young star after he saw her picture. “Nakita yata ang picture niya, either pinresent ang picture niya or siya mismo ang nakakita ng picture ni Chiu,” Gubi said. The movie project of Chiu and Chan won’t push through due to some constraints.

Pauline joins ‘Dwarfina’

PAULINE Luna will soon play a kontrabida role in the television show “Dwarfina”, topbilled by actress Heart Evangelista.

According to the actress, this is her first time to play opposite to Heart.

“I’ve been working out a lot kasi I want to give justice to my character and to give respect dun sa mga designers,” she said. She will also be working with ex-boyfriend Dennis Trillo.”It’s been a year and half so I don’t see anything wrong with that. Also nage-guest naman sya sa Eat Bulaga. Were good,” she noted.

She also shared that she is not a kontrabida in real life. This after rumors circulated on tweet wars between her and sexy actress Cristine Reyes. According to Pauline, she does not look at Cristine’s page because it might bring bad vibes in her mood.

“I’m living my life like I don’t see anything. I don’t hear anything,” she said. “Here’s one thing, hindi ako tinuruan ng mga magulang ko na magsinungalin. So pag tinanong talaga ako, sinasabi ko yung truth,” she added.

Rhian very much single

THOUGH two guys were linked to her, Kapuso star Rhian Ramos said she is very much single and available. The “Ilumina” star is currently associated to Aljur Abrenica and DJ Mo Twister. But Rhian said she is dating with someone and enjoying her life being single.
“As of now, open pa naman talaga ako, kaya nga nanliligaw dahil nasa decison making stage pa. Wala pa dun sa point na pwede kong sabihin na exclusive ako,” she said. The actress added that she is happy with what is happening to her career.

For his part, Aljur said he admired Rhian but noted that they are more focus on their careers. “Kahit sino namang lalake magugustuhan si Rhian,” he said. “Ilumina”, topbilled both by Aljur and Rhian is set to air its last five episodes this week. (MNS)
