MISS Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup finally addressed the issue that she is being pitted against her predecessor, Venus Raj.
“Alam mo wala, wala talagang competition,” Supsup said.
“Me and Venus are different persons and we have different personalities. She’s more of the kalog…people-person type of girl. Ako, I’m more reserved at saka my interests are different. Siya into singing, and dancing ako.
“Si Venus helped me especially during my preparation [for Miss Universe 2011] she has helped me, trained me. Even if I’m older than [she is], parang I feel [like] she’s a big sister to me,” the 25-year-old said about Raj.
Raj, 22, placed fourth runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant last year. She is currently one of the hosts of ABS-CBN morning program “Umagang Kay Ganda” (UKG).
Supsup denied that she will replace Raj in “UKG.”
“Wala po, hindi po. Wala pong katotohanan ‘yon. Venus is a good friend of mine. She’s a good host and I wouldn’t speak of anything na ganoon. I wouldn’t do anything like that,” she stressed.
Supsup hinted, though, that she and Raj may work together in a project.
“We are still planning it all out. Kumbaga we are still trying to filter ‘yung mga projects [that] I’m going to do. So hindi pa kami sure. Wala pang definite plan,” she said.
Supsup also extended her support to Filipinos in areas affected by recent typhoons.
“To everyone who was devastated by storms, I would say na there’s always hope every day. I believe naman that Filipinos usually are very resilient and they still have a reason to smile,” she said.
“I think we just have to help each other out. It’s about teamwork. It’s bayanihan kaya whatever we can do to help, we would try our best and hopefully we could all…parang come out of this tragedy. Kasi lagi namang may solusyon sa lahat ng problema.”
Supsup is scheduled to help typhoon victims in Bulacan on Saturday.
Last week, she went to Corazon Aquino High School in Baseco, Tondo to hand out relief goods to residents affected by recent typhoons.
