GLENDALE, CA – PLDT US Mobility’s comptroller and first vice president, June Cheryl “Chaye” Cabal-Revilla, has been named one of The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) Awardees for Community Service in 2013 for her work in PLDT’s Gabay Guro program which significantly contributed to improve the lives of the Filipino people.
Organizing the program with the support of the PLDT Managers’ Club Inc. and the PLDT Smart Foundation, Cabal-Revilla has selflessly honored and helped the country’s teachers through the Gabay Guro program. Under her leadership, Gabay Guro has already provided more than 700 scholarship grants to aspiring teachers and conducted training to more than 40,000 teachers nationwide. Since 2007, Gabay Guro has conducted trainings and programs that fortify the teachers’ knowledge and skills; provided for teachers opportunities for additional livelihood and income; helped in broad banding public schools and in computerization; provided initial funding to finance housing projects and educational facilities; and initiated events and campaigns that pay tribute to teachers.
“I am fortunate to be part of a company that has a deep sense of service for the Filipino people and believes that we are here to change lives. Thus, when we organized Gabay Guro, the support was really there and this inspired us to pursue programs that will truly change the lives of those who changed ours – our teachers,” said Chaye Cabal-Revilla, who also serves as the Chief Finance Officer of PLDT Global Corp. (PGC). “I am thankful that companies within the PLDT Group such as PGC, extend their invaluable support to Gabay Guro by putting up computer labs and schools in Cebu, Bohol and Leyte – areas that were severely devastated by the earthquake and Yolanda.” She further adds that she draws her strength “from God. If you have a purpose and it’s according to His will, God gives you all the strength you need.”
Manuel V. Pangilinan, who is at the helm of the PLDT Group of Co, shares the same heart for the Filipino people when he said in the PLDT-Smart Foundation’s website, “we are determined to make an impact on the lives of as many Filipinos as possible with the resources we do have.”
This is the reason why PLDT has launched its operations in the United States. “True to the calling of changing lives of the Filipinos wherever they may be, PLDT US Mobility is here to give our kababayans in the US a slew of services that will bring them closer to home,” said Enrique G. Yu, General Manager of PLDT US Mobility.
