PHP187.5 million in Donations and Assistance Raised for Flood Victims
The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. wishes to express its gratitude to individuals and organizations that provided support and assistance to victims of the heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon (Habagat) and enhanced by Tropical Storm Haikui, which resulted in massive flooding in Central and South Luzon over a period of 24 hours last August 6 and 7.
To date, authorities have recorded a total of PHP25.0 million in monetary donations and PHP162.5 million in kind assistance from foreign donors, the Filipino community and various entities abroad, including the Government of the United States of America.According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, “all emergency response actions (search and rescue, relief and recovery operations) in connection with the flooding as a result of the southwest monsoon rains have already been terminated.”
