Los Angeles, 21 November 2013 – The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles received on 20 November 2013 the participants of the Public Safety Officers Senior Executive Course (PSOSEC) Class 2013-86. The class was headed by Police Chief Superintendent John G. Guyguyon and was accompanied by their counterparts from the Los Angeles Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
With programs like the Public Safety Officers Security Executive Course, bilateral law enforcement cooperation has reached new levels: Philippine and U.S. agencies have cooperated in their campaign against criminality and terrorism, drug and human trafficking, search and rescue and disaster response, implementation of their extradition treaty, and training of Filipino law enforcement officers. The United States has been helping the Philippine National Police with its Transformation Program.
The PSOSEC participants are in Los Angeles for a training program to develop the participant’s’ competence level and character to prepare them to assume command and staff positions in provincial, regional and national level in the Philippine National Police.
This partnership between the PNP and the FBI partnership is on its eighth year and has deepened the law-enforcement cooperation between the Philippines and the U.S. This is the 3rd batch for year 2013 received by the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles.
The courtesy visit also coincided with the 150th Birth Anniversary of Andres Bonifacio commemorative event of the Philippine Consulate General.
