LOS ANGELES — While the Philippines is focused on rebuilding and rehabilitation efforts after the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, the Department of Tourism continues with its task of promoting the country as a safe, interesting and fun tourist destination.
Travel markets, meanwhile have been very supportive with foreign tourists continuing to demonstrate their interests and eagerness to come, visit and discover the many exotic places in the Philippines.
At the 16th Annual L.A Times Travel Show held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 18 and 19, 2014 and at the Travel and Adventure Show held at the Long Beach Convention Center on February 8 and 9, 2013, the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDoT) showcased the natural attractions of the Philippines emblazoned with the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” catchphrase.
The PDoT’s booths in both shows attracted hundreds of show attendees inquiring about the different Philippine destinations. The staff of the Department of Tourism’s Los Angeles Office, headed by Tourism Director Mary Anne Cuevas Lim responded with enthusiasm and eagerness in responding to queries, giving away flyers and brochures and providing information to would-be travelers to the Philippines.
Taste of Travel Stage, one of the attractions at the Los Angeles Travel and Adventure Show, showcased the Philippines’ adobo, probably the most popular Filipino dish among non-Filipino. Show guests and attendees were drawn to the stage by the delicious and mouth-watering smell of the adobo being cooked by the chef of Leelin Bakery and Café the hosted the Philippine presentation in partnership with PDoT.
Tourism Director Mary Anne Cuevas-Lim, meanwhile, had a PowerPoint presentation of the many travel destinations in the Philippines. She likewise expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, aid and goodwill the world has extended to the Philippines even as she invited everyone to come and visit the country.
The Los Angeles Travel and Adventure Show is California’s largest travel show featuring thousands of vacation and travel options in one roof.
Like the L.A. Travel and Adventure Show, the Los Angeles Times Travel Show is a platform for travel destinations to showcase what they have to offer to tourists and would-be travelers. Information from various travel agencies, cruise lines, wineries or tours were also available.
