MANILA (Mabuhay) – Malacañang on Saturday indicated it is not likely to declare a nationwide suspension of government on July 28, when President Benigno Aquino III delivers his State of the Nation Address.
But deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said it is possible the local government of Quezon City could make such a declaration as the venue of the SONA would be there.
“Sa national government, mukhang wala tayong balak mag-declare. Normally hindi tayo nagde-declare,” she said on government-run dzRB radio.
For this year, July 28 is sandwiched between a Sunday and a holiday – July 29, Eidl Fitr (end of Ramadan, a month-long fasting in the Islam tradition).
On July 28, Aquino is scheduled to deliver his SONA before a joint session of Congress at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.
“Ang nagkakaroon ng declaration local government, normally Quezon City,” Valte said. (MNS)
