MANILA (Mabuhay) — Despite concerns regarding his health, President Benigno Aquino III will not extend his break beyond three days, Malacañang said Friday.
At a press conference, Valte said Health Sec. Enrique Ona has always said that it would be “ideal” if the President would take one-week breaks every quarter.
However, Valte said “that is a luxury that the President does not have. So, he will be okay with three days.”
Aquino’s break begins on Friday and will end on Sunday, after which he will resume his duties for Rizal Day.
During his break, Aquino is expected to go to the Mansion House in Baguio, although Valte said he is likely to still get updates from the Philippine National Police, Department of Transportation and Communications, and Metro Manila Development Authority regarding the exodus of people over the weekend before the New Year.
Asked if Aquino will get a medical checkup during his three-day break, as well as on the last time he had one, Valte said he will have to ask the President.
“The President gets regular and periodic checkups. Hindi lang po iyan dahil nagpapahinga siya but, normally he has a schedule for that,” she said.
The Palace official said the one who administers Aquino’s medical checkups is his personal physician, who asked that his or her identity be kept private. (MNS)
