Noted business leader, physician and philanthropist Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong to deliver keynote address at the Asian Business Association’s 37TH Annual Awards Banquet
ABA is Honored to Have One of America’s Most Prominent Business Titans On Hand to Join the Celebration!
Los Angeles, CA – In a rare public appearance, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, one of the nation’s most prominent entrepreneurs, business leaders, physicians, research scientists and philanthropists, will deliver the keynote address at the Asian Business Association’s (ABA) 37th Annual Awards Banquet. ABA will celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of Asian business leaders at this gala.
Dr. Soon-Shiong is one of America’s most accomplished Asian Americans, and is ranked by Forbes as the wealthiest American in the healthcare industry, and by the Los Angeles Business Journal as the wealthiest person in Los Angeles. He also happens to be the world’s most financially successful biotech entrepreneur, having managed the virtually impossible feat of building not one but two multi-billion-dollar pharmaceutical firms simultaneously.
Even more inspiring is that Soon-Shiong’s stature as a pharmaceutical tycoon is now being superseded by his generosity as a medical philanthropist, having made over $200 million in donations and pledges to Los Angeles-area hospitals. In September of 2009 he joined Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and about three dozen other billionaires in making the pledge to donate half of his wealth to charity.
For the past 37 years, ABA has celebrated and recognized the achievements of Asian business owners and corporate executives at their Annual Awards Banquet. “We believe that great leadership comes with great responsibilities, such as community involvement. Having Dr. Soon-Shiong involved with ABA is extra special, as we have one of the nation’s most prominent Asian Americans on hand who exemplifies this leadership.” said Dennis Huang, ABA’s Executive Director & CEO.
The theme for this year’s banquet is: Changes in the Workplace – Are You Ready! At the gala and through the honorees, ABA wants to bring attention to leaders who are making an impact in healthcare, insurance, the economy and technology. Given his experience as the world’s most successful biotech entrepreneur, and his tremendous impact in the Southern California economy and beyond, Dr. Soon-Shiong is the best fit to deliver the keynote address at this gala.
Other honorees at this event include California Insurance Commissioner, The Honorable Dave Jones, AEG and Mr. David Lin with AT&T. Journalist and Host of Our America Lisa Ling and her husband Paul Y. Song, M.D will co-emcee the event.
ABA is expecting more than 400 guests at this event, including state and local elected officials, business and community leaders as well as corporate executives.
“This is going to be the best ABA banquet in the organization’s history. It’s only fitting that the wealthiest and most successful entrepreneur in Southern California is on hand to deliver the keynote address at one of the oldest and preeminent Asian American business associations,” stated Ronald W. Wong, Co-Chair of ABA.
The Asian Business Association was founded in 1976 to proactively help Asian Americans gain access to economic opportunities and advancement. With more than 600 members, ABA represents Asian American business owners, and creates business opportunities for its members and their diverse communities.
