SUPERSTAR Nora Aunor has finally reacted to the Smoke-free Philippines advocates’ criticisms over her photo on the cover of “Yes!†magazine.
Aunor expressed dismay over the fuss made on her supposedly harmless photo.
She said, “Kriminal ba ‘yung ginawa ng tao o ano? Masyadong pinapalaki ‘yung isyu. Bakit, ngayon lang napansin na naninigarilyo ako?â€
Aunor was recently criticized by the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) for the bad image she was conveying in the said photograph.
PMA volunteer Fr. Robert Reyes even made comments against the move made by the veteran actress, who recently made a showbiz comeback.
He said, “Nora, you are ill-advised. You think you are moving forward, it’s a step backwards.”
Aunor, however, has humbly issued an apology. She also made amends with Reyes during their recent meeting.
*** SPEAKING OF SMOKING, actress and television host Anne Curtis got the ire of “smoke-free Philippines†campaign advocates after a copy of her “Rogue†magazine cover photo came out.
In the said photograph, Curtis was standing on a balcony in Paris with a cigarette in hand.
Similar to its reaction towards Nora Aunor’s photo with a similar theme, the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) was irked by the said image.
PMA reminded publishers, producers, and artists to be more sensitive and responsible with their representations considering their great influence over the public, especially among children.
The organization showed concern that the image may relay a wrong message regarding smoking among kids.
Curtis and the management of “Rogue†magazine have not yet released a statement regarding this issue.
The actress is currently in Thailand.
