New Secretary of State Old Friend of Philippine Democracy

WASHINGTON, D.C. (2 April 2013) – Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario and US Secretary of State John F. Kerry speak before media before their meeting at the State Department. In his statement before media, Secretary Del Rosario expressed how much the Philippines values Secretary Kerry’s extensive experience in foreign relations, his understanding of Asia, and his personal stake in terms of having democracy restored for Filipinos in 1986 when he was there as a member of the international election monitoring team. Secretary Del Rosario said he and Secretary Kerry are committed to working together in order to be able to strengthen the Philippines-US treaty alliance and to be able to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries.
