MANILA (Mabuhay) – Around 100 members of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines – Southern Tagalog (NDFP-ST) held a protest in Philcoa, Quezon City as the New People’s Army (NPA) celebrated its 45th anniversary Saturday.
The NDFP-ST slammed the Aquino administration for its alleged illegal arrests of members of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-NPA-NDFP-ST.
“Habang parang batang inaalok ng kendi ang CPP-NPA-NDFP sa usapang pangkapayapaan ay kabi-kabila naman ang iligal na pag-aresto at iligal na pagkulong sa mga pinaghihinalaang matataas na opisyales at myembro ng CPP-NPA-NDF-ST,” it said in a statement.
Citing the arrests of top communist leaders Benito and Wilma Tiamzon and Andrea Rosal, daughter of former NPA spokesman Gregorio “Ka Roger” Rosal, the NDFP-ST said the government is not really serious in its peace negotiations with the communists.
“Puro intriga, pagbubulid ng kasinungalingan at gawa-gawang kaso ang ipinapakalat ni Aquino kasabwat ang Armed Forced of the Philippines (AFP),” it said.
It called on for the immediate release of Rosal, who is now 8 months pregnant.
The Tiamzons were arrested in Cebu last Saturday while Rosal was arrested in Caloocan on Thursday. (MNS)
