TV5 actress Nadine Samonte said she is ready to settle down and start a family of her own.
July of this year, Nadine’s non-showbiz boyfriend Richard Chua proposed to her at Sofitel Hotel in Manila.
Nadine said she was really surprised by the proposal because the plan during that night was just to watch “Dirty Dancing” at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. But the international stage musical was cancelled “due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances” according to its producers.
“Biglaan lahat ng nangyari. Nagkayayaan kami sa Sofitel para mag-coffee kasi kasama ‘yung mom ko and mom niya,” said Nadine.
In the swimming pool area, with the Manila Bay on their backdrop, Richard took out his video camera and started to aim its lens on Nadine.
Nadine said, “Then nagvi-video na siya. Sabi ko ‘bakit ka nagvideo?’ Sabi niya ‘wala lang. Gusto ko lang mag video’. Then nagtanong siya ‘how much do you love me?’ Sabi ko ‘I love you so much.”
“Tapos sabi niya ‘ikaw naman. Ikaw mag-video (sa akin) then tanungin mo ako how much do you love me’. Ang sagot niya ‘more than anything in this world.’ Tapos may sinabi pa siya na parang naguguluhan na din siya. Bigla na lang siyang lumuhod and asked ‘will you marry me?” she said.
Nadine immediately said yes. She added that when her businessman boyfriend presented her the ring, he was shaking.
“Sobrang kabado talaga siya. Pag-present pa niya ng ring sa akin, baligtad yung box kaya tawa ako ng tawa,” the actress said.
According to the actress, Richard already sought the permission of her mother before asking her to marry him.
“Nagsabi na siya kay Mommy. Okay naman siya kasi tanggap na tanggap naman siya ng family ko. Ready ako (magpakasal) pero ready ba si Mommy?” she laughingly said.
The couple planned to tie the knot next year.
“May hinahabol akong (deadline),” was her reply when asked about having kids. Nadine said she’s polycystic that’s why she’s keen to have babies before turning 30.
When asked if she will leave show biz for good once she married Richard, Nadine said show biz will be in her heart. As long as there are projects and offers to her, she will not stop working.
“Yung respeto ko din sa trabaho ko andoon. Tingnan muna natin kasi sayang din ang work. Definitely pag andyan ‘yung work, hindi ko naman pwedeng talikuran din ‘yun,” she ended.
The actress will soon be featured in TV5’s upcoming series “The Gift” with Ogie Alcasid. (MNS)
