MANILA (Mabuhay) – It’s not just “slam dunk” evidence. It’s a “three-point shot.”
This was how Sen. Teofisto Guingona III, chairman of the blue ribbon committee, assessed the testimony of Ruby Tuason, a potential state witness on the alleged P10-billion pork barrel scam.
At the end of his committee’s hearing on Thursday, Guingona said Tuason’s testimony is “very essential” because it directly links a senator to the supposed anomaly.
“This is the first testimony from someone who personally handed kickbacks to a senator…That’s a three-point shot, a buzzer beater,” Guingona said.
Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, meanwhile, described Tuason as a “perfect state witness” with a “bull’s eye testimony.”
“This is categorical and eyewitness evidence. It does not necessarily need corroboration. I would call it a bull’s eye evidence, dahil siya ang nakakita mismo,” she said.
Tuason detailed during the Senate inquiry how she supposedly delivered pork barrel kickbacks to Senator Jinggoy Estrada and to Gigi Reyes, former chief-of-staff of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile.
Last Friday, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima described Tuason’s testimony as “slam dunk” evidence, which she said is enough to pin down Estrada, Reyes and Enrile on the scam.
Tuason, Enrile, Estrada and Reyes are all facing plunder raps before the Office of the Ombudsman for their alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam, supposedly engineered by detained businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles. (MNS)
