MANILA (Mabuhay)– KAPUSO actor Mark Herras denied that he is using his “Rhodora X” leading lady and perennial love team Jennylyn Mercado to regain his popularity.

Mark blasted his critics who are questioning his friendship with Jennylyn, his former girlfriend, while maintaining closeness with his ex-girlfriend Ynna Asistio and her family.

“Wala naman silang karapatan para pakialamanan yung buhay ko. Nakakapikon na din yung ibang tao na ginagamit ko daw si Jenn para bumalik yung career ko. Never kong ginamit si Jenn sa trabaho. Every time na magkakatrabaho kami, trabaho lang ang ginagawa namin ng maayos,” he said.

Mark added that he’s good friends with both his exes and there’s no issue if he’s seen with Ynna’s family. He said he is “very close” to Ynna’s mother, former actress Nadia Montenegro.

“Doon sa mga tao na masyadong pinapakialamanan yung personal kong buhay wala naman silang pakialam kasi naging sobrang close ako sa pamilya ni Ynna, nila Tita Nads (Nadia),” the actor said.

“Kung pumupunta ako doon nung pasko, nung New Year, or kahit kailan na walang okasyon, gagawin ko kasi hindi ko naman kailangan pagbawalan yung sarili ko na makipag kaibigan sa mga taong yun kasi mahal ko din sila.”

Mark also denied rekindling his romance with Asistio.

“Sabi nga nila ‘magka-akbay sila sa picture!’ Magkaakbay lang, nagkabalikan na ulit? Sana pakialamanan na lang nila yung sarili nilang buhay,” he said.

Meanwhile, the actor said that what he shares with Jennylyn is pure respect, admiration and friendship.

Ten years after they bagged the top awards in the talent reality search “StarStruck,” the two remained good friends after their own break-up. Mark is one of the godparents of Jennylyn’s only son, Alex Jazz.

Mark explained that what the people see on television reflects their true friendship behind the camera.

“Sa totoo lang hindi naman kami nakikipag plastikan sa media or sa mga tao na kailangan sweet tayo kasi may bago tayong teleserye. Hindi e. Kung ano yung nakikita ninyo off cam, mas nadadagdagan lang yun sa on cam. Wala kaming problema ni Jenn ngayon,” he said.

Mark added: “Dun sa mga panahon na hindi kami ang magka love team, hindi kami magka trabaho, still nagkikita parin kami sa GMA or sa labas. Iba talaga yung pinagsamahan namin. Kahit ano pa yung mangyari sa amin ni Jenn, andiyan kami sa isa’t isa and hindi mawawala yun.”

When asked if there’s a possibility for them to rekindle their past romance, the actor said he is not closing his doors but remained firm that their priority is their respective careers.

“Kung sakali dumating yung panahon na may puntahan itong relationship or pagkakaibigan namin ni Jenn, kung lumampas man doon, malalaman ninyo,” he ended.

“Rhodora X” premieres on January 27. (MNS)
