Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors proclaims October 2012 as Filipino-American History Month

Los Angeles, 30 October 2012 – In a presentation held this morning during a Regular Meeting of the Board of Supervisors at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration along Temple St. in downtown Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, led by Supervisor Michael D.Antonovich, presented a Resolution proclaiming October 2012 as Filipino-American History Month.

  1. Antonovich praised the Filipino-American community for its achievements, contributions and the 425 years of historical presence in the United States.

Deputy Consul General Daniel R. Espiritu, Ms. Cora Soriano, President, Los Angeles Filipino Association of City Employees (LAFACE), and Ms. Purita K. Prather, Treasurer, Los Angeles County Filipino American Employees Association (LACFAEA) accepted the resolution in behalf of the Filipino-American community in Los Angeles.

Deputy Consul General Espiritu extended his appreciation to the Board of Supervisors for the honor and acknowledging the achievements of the Filipinos in Los Angeles County.
