Los Angeles, 12 October 2012 – The Los Angeles City Council, led by Council members Jose Huizar and Eric Garcetti, honored the Filipino American community in Los Angeles by presenting a Resolution proclaiming October 2012 as Filipino-American History Month.  Members of the City Council praised the Filipino-American community for its achievements, contributions and the 425 years of historical presence in the United States.

Deputy Consul General Daniel R. Espiritu and Walnut City Council member Tony Cartagena during the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the opening of the Historical Art Exhibit at the L.A. City Hall Bridge East.

Deputy Consul General Daniel R. Espiritu and Ms. Cora Soriano, President, Los Angeles Filipino Association of City Employees (LAFACE), accepted the resolution in behalf of the Filipino-American community in Los Angeles.

Deputy Consul General Espiritu also led the ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the Historical Filipino Art Exhibit at the L.A. City Hall Bridge East.
