Actress-host Janice de Belen admitted she is a bit pressured to be working alongside Boy Abunda, who is dubbed as the Philippines’ King of Talk.
De Belen and Carmina Villaroel are set to join Boy Abunda in the reformatted version of “The Buzz” this Sunday, following the cancellation of their show, “Showbiz Inside Report.”
They will replace hosts Toni Gonzaga and Charlene Gonzales, who already bade farewell to the viewers of the showbiz talk show last Sunday.
“I will be lying if I say hindi [ako pressured]. Pressured ako because first, kasama ko si Tito Boy. Pangalawa, you’re only as good as your last job so kailangan galingan mo kasi alam mong mayroon ng ine-expect sa ‘yo. You have to be better than what they saw before,” she said.
Saying this will be her first time to work with Abunda, de Belen said she is looking forward to having intellectual banters with the acclaimed TV host every Sunday.
“Excited and nervous ako. Nai-interview ako ni Tito Boy so parang in a way nakakatrabaho mo na rin siya pero ito kasi magbabatuhan kayo ng opinion so siyempre may nerbyos factor. Ayaw mong magkamali,” she said.
“Ibang-iba [’yung show]. If I’m not mistaken parang never pa ako nakakita ng showbiz talk show na may audience na nagpa-participate at may panel na may specific topic na pinag-uusapan. Never ko pa siya nakita sa showbiz talk shows,” she added.
De Belen said the show will be a venue for her to air her opinions on issues or situations happening in the entertainment industry.
“I think after everything that has happened in my life, I’m braver in terms of opinion kasi kapag bata ka hindi ka pa puwede maging brave kasi feeling mo wala ka pang enough experience or wala ka pa talagang pinagdaanan for you to be able to say anything. Pero ngayon, hitik na hitik ako sa opinion and sa experience. Siguro naman may tama akong masasabi,” she said.
Asked if she’s worried that some people might disagree with her take of issues, de Belen said: “That’s why it’s an opinion. It’s a different from a tira. It’s your personal thoughts on the issue. I’ve always been very open about the things that I believe in or ‘yung things na nakikita ko kasi maingat naman ako. I’m not out to bash or hurt anybody. Ang opinion ko sa sitwasyon, hindi sa mga tao.”
“Buzz ng Bayan” will take over the timeslot of “The Buzz” at 4 p.m. every Sunday. (MNS)
