The Hollywood Dip
Mabuhay! It's time to get my Steve on! Steve's height and weight? Eye color? Hair? Shoe size?!
Yes. It's All About Steve.
I believe the hottest man working in Hollywood right now has got to be Bradley Cooper. What would an average American or Filipino woman do to meet Bradley? Sorry ladies, I just did… again!
I have met him many times before and he still gives me butterflies every time I see him. The first time I had the chance to encounter this hottie was for Jim Carey's Yes Man.
The moment I sat down and was introduced to Bradley, he bombarded me with questions. He asked, “Where are you from? What's your ethnicity? How long have you been in LA? " I was like, “Hold up Mister, I'm supposed to be the one giving you the questions." It was love at first sight! I want to be Mrs. Cooper!
Okay, now I'm starting to act like Mary, who was played by Sandra Bullock. Mary is an innocent woman who falls fast for Steve, played by Bradley Cooper. She is a genius who can spell every word known to man, working as a “Cruciverbalist,” a crossword puzzle constructor. She is awkward and socially inept, yet lovable and very sweet.
Cinema's favorite Mexican maverick, Robert Rodriguez, has shot, chopped and helmed another fun-filled, action adventure entitled SHORTS.
If you're not familiar with Robert Rodriguez's work, you must be crazy! He's a Producer/Writer/Director who has collaborated with Quentin Tarantino on movies like "From Dusk Till Dawn" and "Grindhouse"—which are all part of my DVD collection.
Oh yeah and he's creator of the "Spy Kids" trilogy and "The Adventurers of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D," which I'm sure you all have seen if you have kids. Robert is the father of five children, and the film isn't just inspired by the little whippersnappers – they helped their famous dad write it as well.
SHORTS is filled with some of my favorite actors as well as some newcomers.
If you had the chance to make one wish come true, what would you wish for? Would it be to have all the money in the world, or to be the most beautiful person in the world? The characters in SHORTS face that eternal question after finding a "Rainbow Rock"—no, they didn't take it from Adam Lambert—that makes their wishes come to life.
It's me again, your Hollywood insider, Renae Punzalan. I hope you went out to see your favorite movies this week.
I have to tell you how much of a sci-fi geek I am. I love aliens, robots, science fiction and outer space! (I sometimes consider myself "other-worldly" as well.)
So I got very excited when I went to the screening of DISTRICT 9! This movie is so good, it is the "must see" summer movie of the year! I haven't been this crazy about a movie since STAR WARS Episode I, where I waited in line for hours, just to see the first (worldwide) midnight show, way back in 1999. What a geek!
Going back to District 9, I don't want to spoil your trip to the theater but I'll give you a little peek at what to expect.
This movie brings such a unique concept to it's audience. Its comprised of dramatic scenes, "mockumenatary" footage, real news video obtained from the South African Broadcasting Corporation and other news agencies. The idea behind the movie comes from the short, low budget mock-documentary called "Alive In Jo'burg." It's shot in a Johannesburg shantytown by the film's director, Neill Blomkamp. The short film is available on YouTube.
Mabuhay readers of Balita! I'm Renae Punzalan. I'm here to dip you into Hollywood with insider scoop about celebrities, rock stars, high fashion, and all kinds of mischief.
I have interviewed many of Hollywood's A-list actors, as well as some very talented musicians. I encourage you to take some time to read this blog. Hopefully, I'll shed a bright light on what really goes on in Hollywood – professionally that is.
So we all know that one of the summer's biggest blockbusters was "TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN". I grew up watching the cartoon with my little brother so I'm such a big fan. If you haven't seen this movie yet, what the heck are you waiting for? It's full of action and you get to see some new robots, especially the little remote controled toy truck that has an East Coast accent (and calls Megan Fox's character the big bad B-word). Director Michael Bay does an outstanding job of creating the largest explosion ever to be filmed on a movie set. And some of the cast had to go to Egypt to shoot at the ancient Pyramids of Giza, which a movie director hasn't been able to do for the past thirty years. So lucky enough I got to see the movie before it hit theaters, and I also was granted access to interview the uber popular cast.
Now I know all you guys out there love America's favorite young hottie Megan Fox. I was actually very nervous to interview her, because you know when two hot felines get together there can be a lot of tension, Meow!
"Stunning" does not even describe Miss Fox, who lived up to her sexy surname. She had on this gorgeous violet dress on that fit her like a glove. She was also wearing purple eyeshadow to match, I'm glad her makeup artist did a really good job, ganda naman! I didn't look at her shoes, cause that would just be rude. We chatted about how big the movie was and how much bigger it cab be while having all the die hard fans expectations. I also asked her about how the media tends to misconstrue what she says during interviews to make her look like the bad girl, which was the reason why she didn't want to say anything controversial.
When I asked her if she was one of the Transformers, if she would rather be an Autobot or a Decepticon, she said “Decepticon. I love being deceptive." She is a girl after my own heart...
