Prior to its formation, California residents with Gapan City affiliation gathered every January and May in Cerritos Park East since the early 80s to celebrate the town’s two fiestas under the leadership of the first group of immigrants called Gapan Club of Los Angeles. When attendance to the two annual events ballooned to more than 500, the founding members of the Gapan Club decided to turn over the leadership to the younger generation.
The new leadership with bigger vision in mind formally organized early this year as a non-profit organization.
The main mission of GAPASCA is to foster higher education among students from the City of Gapan in Nueva Ecija through its Adopt-A-Student Scholarship Program.
The young group has already launched two projects this year – the PABASA, last April and the Divina Pastora Fiesta last May. It also participated in the celebration of Philippine Independence in Cerritos last June 14 as donor and partnered with the Philippine Society of Southeast Los Angeles (PHILSELA) in running the refreshment booth.
