MANILA (Mabuhay) – The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) awarded the one-year contract for the maintenance of the MRT-3 to Autre Porte Technique Global Inc. (APT Global).
The DOTC issued a notice of award to APT Global last August 22, after finishing its bid evaluation and post-qualification process.
APT was the only complete local railway service provider. It currently has partnerships with multinational companies including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Sumitomo, Kinki Sharyo, Pacific Consultants International, Transurb Technirail, STIB and DAXI of Belgium.
“Based on the findings of the BAC pursuant to BAC Resolution No. P-GS-PB-2013-27, the contract for the MRT3 System Maintenance Provider entered into between DOTC-MRT3 and APT Global is hereby awarded to your company in the total amount of P685.04 million,” the notice said.
Earlier, the group of Asiaphil Manufacturing Industries Inc. and Korea Railroad as well as Commbuilders & Technology Philippines Corp. did not qualify for the one-year temporary maintenance service contract for MRT-3.
The DOTC is pushing for a government takeover of the MRT-3, in order for it to bid out the complete operation and maintenance of the system.
Last March, President Aquino issued Executive Order No. 126 directing the DOTC and the Department of Finance (DOF) to buy out MRT-3 from MRTC.(MNS)
