Los Angeles – Alex De Ocampo, candidate for Los Angeles City Council in District 13, has received the endorsement of Mark Pulido, Cerritos City Councilmember. Both Pulido and De Ocampo are viewed as young, transformative leaders in the Filipino American community and have worked together advocating for progressive causes in the past.
“I am excited about the history Alex De Ocampo can make as Los Angeles’ first Filipino American City Councilmember,” Pulido stated. “But this election isn’t just about making history. Alex has practical experience managing a $200 million family foundation and leading projects such as the Saban Research Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He will take what he has learned and work to create jobs and give our community a much needed voice in City Hall.”
“I am honored to have Mark Pulido’s support. He has been a friend, a mentor and an exceptional leader for Cerritos and in the Filipino American community,” Alex De Ocampo stated. “We need a Councilmember who can help create good-paying jobs in our city and solve problems for our neighborhoods. I will work every day to make sure these priorities are met. I look forward to working with leaders like Mark to bring our community’s voice to City Hall.”
De Ocampo oversees a $200 million Foundation endowment focusing on large-scale non-profit projects, such as the Saban Research Institute at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Saban Free Clinic. His parents emigrated from the Philippines prior to his birth. De Ocampo was the President of the California Young Democrats, is a past member of the Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council and is a lifelong Angeleno.
