Los Angeles – Consul General Ma. Hellen Barber De La Vega swears in Ms. Ethel Mercado as the Philippine Honorary Consul to Dallas, TX at the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles on 12 February 2014. Ms. Mercado will cover the entire State of Texas under the supervision of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles

Honorary Consul Ethel Mercado is currently the President and CFO of Datalogix Texas Inc. a minority provider of wireless engineering services to AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon. Datalogix is the only Filipino-owned full contractor in the U.S. wireless telecommunications industry, providing high-paying jobs to minority engineers in 20 states. Honorary Consul Mercado serves also as the State President of the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce of Texas since 2006 to present; National Vice President of International Business and Trade Mission (2006 to present) and member of the Board of Directors/Adviser to Philippine Republic Day Celebration Inc (2008 to present).

Consul General De La Vega welcomes the appointment of Ms. Mercado. In the next few weeks, Ms. Mercado will prepare her office in close coordination with the Philippine Consulate General.
