Los Angeles, 10 December 2012 – Consul General Maria Hellen Barber De La Vega paid a courtesy call on Los Angeles County Sheriff Leroy D. Baca on 07 December 2012 at the Sheriff’s Office in California.
The two officials discussed ways of further strengthening the cooperation between the Sheriff’s Office and the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, considering that Filipinos represent the second largest ethnic group in Los Angeles County.
During the meeting, Sheriff Baca expressed gratitude for the services of the 600 Filipino nurses employed by his office to attend to the medical needs of inmates in county jails.
He said that he greatly appreciated the opportunity to dialogue with the Philippine Consul General on issues affecting Los Angeles and the rest of the nation.
