MANILA (Mabuhay) – The group in charge of the rehabilitation and rebuilding of areas severely hit by typhoon “Yolanda” presented to President Benigno S. Aquino III on Wednesday a comprehensive rehabilitation and recovery plan.

The President and his Cabinet secretaries met at Malacañang’s Aguinaldo State Dining Room Wednesday morning to discuss the “Yolanda Recovery and Rehabilitation Plan.”

The rehabilitation plan focuses on six priority areas: shelter and reconstruction, power restoration, livelihood and employment, environment and resettlement, psychosocial care, and resource generation and allocation.

Last week, President Aquino created a group to oversee the rebuilding efforts in Eastern Visayas which was hit by the killer typhoon almost three weeks ago.

National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Arsenio Balisacan heads the group’s planning coordination that will integrate the rebuilding programs from all agencies involved.

Latest figures from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) placed the super typhoon’s damage to agriculture and infrastructure at P24.5 billion.

The government is now in full swing in rebuilding areas in the Visayas affected by “Yolanda.” (MNS)
