‘A Holly Jolly Christmas’ goes onstage December 22 at Alex Theatre
“A Holly Jolly Christmas!” is brimming with high-caliber vocalists diverse ages and musical genres that ticket pre-orders came in when the concert was first announced. The attractive pricing has certainly encouraged people to bring the entire family for holiday cheer at the Alex Theatre in Glendale on December 22 at 6pm.
The talents range from jazz cats Mon David and Abe Lagrimas Jr, theatre actress Lara Avengoza to pop singers Erwin Andaya and Annie Nepomuceno, to conductor Robert Shroder, classical tenor Pete Avendaño, Mike Zuñiga, plus the angelic Immaculate Heart of Mary Children’s Choir, the IHM Cherubim, and Mirielle Enriquez to the entertaining Harana Men’s Chorus.
Mon David recently performed in the same concert as the award-winning IHM Children’s Choir at the Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra (FASO) Concert at the prestigious Ford Amphitheatre. But in “A Holly Jolly Christmas!” Mon sings with a choir or two, aside from displaying the vocal improvisation with the rich baritone voice he is known for.
This highly musical evening of your favorite Christmas tunes is surely going to be a delight for all. No Christmas is complete without angelic voices. In this concert, renown tenor Pete Avendaño displays his conducting chops by introducing the IHM Cherubim, the youngest children’s choir he has handled. The Harana Men’s Chorus, ever the crowd-pleaser, is slated to exhibit their special mix of entertaining songs.
In “A Holly Jolly Christmas!” stage ingénue Lara Avengoza teams up again with Erwin Andaya, her costar in Ryan Cayabyab’s “Awit ng Buhay” presented at the Ford Amphitheatre last 2009. Their team has proven effective in “Songs From The Heart” and “Summer Soiree” that their fans are awaiting what they will come up with in this concert.
