MANILA (Mabuhay) — ARJO Atayde said he is now ready to prove his worth in show biz as he takes his first lead role in the newest afternoon series “Dugong Buhay.”
“It’s overwhelming and much pressure on my part right now. Ini-expect ko na baka I’ll get this role or break four or five years pa. Pero ito dumating sa akin. Thank you that they believed in my capabilities as an actor,” said Arjo who joined show biz over a year ago.
Although he is a neophyte in the business, Arjo received the Best New Male Television Personality trophy in last year’s PMPC Star Awards for Television. He said the citation inspires him to deliver a stellar performance in the new series, which also topbills Ejay Falcon.
“Thankful ako sa path ng career ko ngayon because it’s a big, big break. I’m happy where I stand right now. My role doesn’t matter basta magustuhan ng tao yung ibibigay namin na teleserye,” he said.
He added that his passion for acting and his personality is what sets him apart from other leading men of ABS-CBN.
He said acting is his forte.
Arjo shared that when his mother, seasoned actress Sylvia Sanchez, was doing “Esperanza” with Judy Ann Santos in 1997, he used to look at her scripts and would copy Juday’s acting.
His mom advised him to always connect with his co-artists and show respect from the crew to the big names in the business.
“I think in a span of one year, kahit papaano na prove ko naman yung worth ko as an actor. For me, whatever they say or think of me, okay lang. As long as I get to deliver kahit ganoon yung critique nila sa akin, I promise to deliver and give them a good teleserye,” he said. (MNS)
