BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 17 – Three people were killed while three others wounded when 75th IB Philippine Army operatives together with group of tribesmen belonging to Datu Dumogoy Tribal Group engaged some 60 fully armed NPA rebels in a 30 minute firefight Sitio Mabog, San Roque, Bislig City early morning Saturday, belated report reaching Caraga PNP regional information office here.
Sketchy police and military reports reaching this regionâ€™s capital however failed to identify the casualties, one of them a still unidentified armed young NPA rebel and two tribesmen.
Three still unidentified tribesmen belonging to Datu Dumogoy Tribal Group were wounded, the official police report said.
Recovered from the crime scene were three (3) m14 rifles; three (3) landmines; two (2) grenades; two (2) rifle grenades; assorted medicines; dental kit and NPA Flag (Hukbong Bayan), the official report claimed.
Police Stations near the area were now conducting checkpoint while PNP elements of Bislig City Police Station in coordination with the Philippine Army in the area were conducting hot pursuit operations against the NPA rebels.

Caraga Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Reynaldo RafalÂ ordered the Surigao del Sur PNP Provincial Office toÂ conduct round the clock safety security measures in all PNPÂ Municipal Stations in theÂ provinceÂ following the encounter and in preparations of the October 25 Barangay and SK elections.
